We move fast, adapt quickly, and care deeply about making products that are easy—and joyful—for customers to use. Interns are treated as real contributors: you’ll work with engineers, QA, product managers, and other partners, and you’ll get support through mentoring, feedback, and structured onboarding.   <h3>About the role</h3> This internship is a great fit for a student going into their Placement Year who’s interested in embedded software development and software quality. You’ll help improve product quality and developer efficiency by contributing to automatable tests, debugging issues, and improving testing workflows for C/C++ applications running on embedded/Linux-based systems.  We offer a paid 12 month internship, starting in September 2026.   <h3>What you'll be doing</h3> With guidance from the team, you will:  <ul> <li>Develop and maintain automated tests for applications written in C/C++ </li> <li>Write scripts/tools (Python and/or Bash) to support test automation and analysis </li> <li>Learn how to use logs, KPIs, and failure analysis to help reproduce, isolate, and understand issues </li> <li>Review and improve existing test cases and automation code with support from mentors </li> <li>Document test procedures, results, and learnings clearly and concisely </li> <li>Collaborate with remote team members across time zones and communicate progress effectively</li> </ul>   <h3>We're excited if you have: </h3> <ul> <li>Current enrolment in a Bachelor’s (or equivalent) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field</li> <li>Available for a 12 month period starting in September 2026</li> <li>Some experience programming in C and/or C++ (coursework, projects, labs, or internships) </li> <li>Familiarity with Linux fundamentals and basic command-line tools </li> <li>Basic scripting skills in Python and/or Bash/Shell </li> <li>Interest in debugging and problem-solving (e.g., reading logs, reproducing issues, step-by-step investigation) </li> <li>Comfort working collaboratively and communicating clearly in a distributed environment </li> <li>A self-driven mindset and willingness to learn quickly in a fast-paced team</li> </ul>   <h3>Nice to Have: </h3> <ul> <li>Exposure to embedded Linux development (e.g., Raspberry Pi, development boards, or coursework) </li> <li>Familiarity with multi-threading concepts and/or memory management fundamentals </li> <li>Experience writing tests (unit tests, integration tests, or white-box tests) </li> <li>Any experience working with software running on SoCs or constrained devices </li> </ul>   <h3>What You’ll Gain </h3> <ul> <li>Hands-on experience contributing to real embedded systems and automation used by production teams </li> <li>Mentoring and feedback from experienced engineers </li> <li>Practical skills in debugging, test development, and working in a modern distributed engineering </li> </ul><div class="content-conclusion">  <h3 style="font-family: GothamBold,Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;">Our Hybrid Work Approach</h3> Roku fosters an inclusive and collaborative environment where teams work in the office Monday through Thursday.
