This position will be responsible for providing legal counsel and strategic guidance on a wide range of regulatory issues affecting the company’s operations within the insurance industry. The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of experience in insurance regulatory law, including experience with state and federal regulations and compliance.  This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned legal professional to play a critical role in shaping the company’s regulatory strategy, ensuring compliance with evolving insurance laws, and helping the organization navigate complex legal and regulatory landscapes.  What you’d be doing:  <ul> <li>Provide legal advice and support on regulatory matters impacting the insurance industry, including surplus lines, licensing, product filings, and regulatory inquiries. </li> <li>Advise senior management and business teams on the implications of changes in state and federal insurance laws and regulations. </li> <li>Draft and review regulatory responses, contracts, and insurance-related documents to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. </li> <li>Assist with regulatory investigations and inquiries  </li> <li>Work closely with internal business units (e.g., product development, compliance, underwriting, claims) to ensure that regulatory requirements are met and business goals are achieved. </li> <li>Monitor legislative and regulatory developments at both the state and federal levels and provide proactive advice on how changes may impact business operations. </li> <li>Assist in the development and implementation of internal policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. </li> <li>Collaborate with external counsel and industry groups on regulatory matters, including advocacy, policy development, and strategic initiatives. </li> <li>Manage legal risks associated with regulatory issues and provide creative, business-oriented solutions to complex legal challenges. </li> </ul> We’re looking for someone who has:  <ul> <li>J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction. </li> <li>7-10 years of experience practicing insurance regulatory law, either in-house or in a law firm with a focus on insurance, financial services, or regulatory law. </li> <li>Deep knowledge of state and federal insurance laws, regulations, and industry best practices (e.g., NAIC model laws, state-specific insurance code). </li> <li>Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex insurance regulatory requirements and communicate them effectively to internal stakeholders. </li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present legal concepts in a clear and concise manner. </li> <li>Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. </li> <li>Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. </li> <li>Experience in regulatory litigation or enforcement matters is a plus. </li> <li>Knowledge of insurance products (property and casualty) and the regulatory landscape in these areas is highly desirable. </li> </ul> Highly preferred candidates also have:  <ul> <li>Master’s degree in law, regulatory affairs, or a related field. </li> <li>Familiarity with emerging issues in the insurance industry, including cybersecurity, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) matters, and the intersection of technology and insurance. </li> </ul>  #LI-Hybrid<div class="content-conclusion">About SageSure: Named among the Best Places to Work in Insurance by Business Insurance for four years in a row (2020-2023), SageSure is one of the largest managing general underwriters (MGU) focused on catastrophe-exposed property in the US.
