About the Role

Senior QA Engineer

Some QA engineers test what’s in front of them.

The really good ones ask:

What could go wrong? What haven’t we thought about? How does this affect the wider system — and the customer?

That’s the kind of Senior QA Engineer we’re looking for.

You’ll sit within an engineering team, and work closely with Software Engineers, Product, Design and SRE across both front-end and back-end testing.

This is a hands-on role. You’ll be involved early, helping the team think through quality before something reaches production, as well as investigating issues, supporting triage and helping decide where testing effort matters most.

We’re not overly focused on automation. We care much more about how you think — your curiosity, judgement, creativity and ability to investigate risk.

What you’ll be doing

Test across front-end and back-end systems.

Get involved early to identify risk, assumptions and gaps.

Think beyond the happy path and explore how things could fail.

Understand the customer and prioritise testing based on impact and business value.

Investigate defects deeply, following clues and testing hypotheses.

Analyse and triage issues raised by customers and internal teams.

Look at the whole system, not just the ticket in front of you.

Help keep important quality issues visible and prioritised.

Improve testing practices, documentation and ways of working.

Share your knowledge and help mentor less experienced team members.

What we’re looking for

You’ll likely bring 5+ years of QA or software testing experience, ideally in a SaaS or product environment.

More importantly, you’ll be someone who:

Is naturally curious about how software works.

Enjoys finding the unexpected.

Thinks in terms of risk, systems and customer impact.

Knows how to investigate, not just execute test cases.

Can move comfortably between front-end behaviour and back-end logic.

Communicates clearly and works well across disciplines.

Brings creativity and pragmatism to testing.

You’ll be comfortable with Jira and Confluence. Experience with Playwright and Postman is useful, but not essential.

Automation is welcome, but this is not an automation-first role.

We’d rather hire someone who asks the right questions, spots the hidden risks and understands what quality really means for the customer.

If that sounds like you, we’d love to talk.
