<h1>Senior Software Engineer, Payments</h1> <p><strong>Location:</strong> San Francisco (Rincon Hill)</p> <hr> <h2>Company Overview</h2> <p><strong>Mission:</strong> Make high-quality early childhood education accessible to all by empowering childcare providers with tools and support while helping parents find quality learning environments.</p> <p><strong>What We're Building:</strong> A category-defining platform at the intersection of marketplace, SaaS, and public sector systems, increasingly powered by AI. Series B backed by a16z, Goldman Sachs, and First Round.</p> <hr> <h2>The Role</h2> <p>Own the engineering behind a payments platform that processes at least $3 billion through our platform, working alongside a small, dedicated team. We move money across banking, debit cards, Stripe, SAP, partner advances, and payroll, we run our own billing platform, and we lean on third-party partners for most of our fintech capabilities, so much of this is integration, orchestration, and tracking work. There is a lot to build here. You will consolidate and refactor a system built across many legacy integrations into something clean, reliable, and fast, and you will spend a lot of time directly with customers.</p> <hr> <h2>What You'll Do</h2> <ul> <li>Build alongside a dedicated payments team: consolidate and refactor a payments system assembled from many legacy system integrations</li> <li>Build and maintain integrations across banking, debit cards, Stripe, SAP, partner advances, payroll, and our billing platform</li> <li>Own the orchestration and tracking/reconciliation layer across our third-party fintech partners</li> <li>Design for correctness first, because money movement demands it</li> <li>Work directly with customers to understand real-world failure modes and edge cases</li> <li>Partner daily with product to build, ship, measure, and iterate</li> <li>Build within the laws and regulations governing payments and financial services</li> </ul> <hr> <h2>Who You Are</h2> <ul> <li>Senior engineer with a strong payments background and real experience building payment systems and integrations (fintech a plus)</li> <li>Exceptionally high attention to detail; strong finance background is a plus</li> <li>Excited to be close to the build and close to customers</li> <li>Likes working on a small team and moving fast; bias toward action</li> <li>Comfortable with the regulatory landscape around payments, banking, and cards</li> <li>Uses AI tools and figures things out independently</li> </ul> <hr> <h2>Compensation &amp; Benefits</h2> <ul> <li><strong>Base salary:</strong> Competitive market rate</li> <li><strong>Equity:</strong> Significant, meaningful ownership</li> <li>Full health coverage</li> <li>Wellness stipend (gym and office)</li> <li>Travel stipend for certain circumstances</li> </ul> <hr> <h2>Application</h2> <p>Apply with your resume and a short note on the most complex payments or integration system you have built.</p> <p>This is a full-commitment, full-ownership role, based in our San Francisco office.
