About the Role

At Personalis, we are transforming the active management of cancer through breakthrough personalized testing. We aim to drive a new paradigm for cancer management, guiding care from biopsy through the life of the patient. Our highly sensitive assays combine tumor-and-normal profiling with proprietary algorithms to deliver advanced insights even as cancer evolves over time. Our products are designed to detect minimal residual disease (MRD) and recurrence at the earliest timepoints, enable selection of targeted therapies based on ultra-comprehensive genomic profiling, and enhance biomarker strategy for drug development. Personalis is based in Fremont, California. Location: Remote Summary: The Sr. Manager / Associate Director, Market Access will play a critical role in shaping and executing Personalis’ commercial payer strategy. This individual will lead strategic engagement with national and regional commercial health plans to expand coverage, influence policy, and improve patient access to Personalis’ innovative diagnostic solutions. This role requires a highly strategic, externally facing leader with deep expertise in payer engagement, reimbursement policy, and market access within oncology diagnostics or related healthcare sectors. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Payer Engagement <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Build and sustain relationships with key decision-makers across national and regional commercial health plans.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Educate stakeholders on Personalis’ technologies and clinical value to influence favorable medical policy development and coverage decisions.</li> </ul> Cross-Functional Collaboration <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Partner closely with Medical Affairs, Commercial, Legal/Compliance, and Finance teams to align on access strategies and messaging.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives that support market access and reimbursement success.</li> </ul> External Stakeholder Advocacy <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Represent Personalis in interactions with payer organizations, provider groups, and industry stakeholders.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Support advocacy efforts with professional societies and other external partners to advance coverage and adoption.</li> </ul> Access Barrier Mitigation <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Identify key barriers to patient access and lead initiatives to address them through targeted strategies.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Develop solutions that support providers, payers, public agencies, and professional societies in facilitating appropriate test utilization.</li> </ul> Commercial Coverage Monitoring <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Track and interpret trends in commercial coverage, clinical guidelines, and payer behavior.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Proactively identify and address emerging risks and opportunities.</li> </ul> Performance Tracking & Reporting <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Document payer engagement activities and outcomes.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Deliver actionable insights and measurable results that inform strategy and support organizational goals.</li> </ul> Team Support & Leadership <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Provide leadership and mentorship within cross-functional teams.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Support broader initiatives across Personalis’ healthcare and commercial organization.</li> </ul> Compliance & Collaboration <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, PhD, or related) strongly preferred.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">8+ years of experience in market access, payer relations, or reimbursement strategy within diagnostics, biotech, or healthcare.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Demonstrated success engaging commercial payers and influencing coverage decisions.</li> </ul> Knowledge & Skills <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Deep understanding of U.S. commercial payer landscape, reimbursement processes, and medical policy development.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Strong knowledge of the oncology and diagnostics space is preferred.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Proven ability to translate clinical and economic value into payer-relevant messaging.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Strong analytical capabilities with experience interpreting policy and coverage trends.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. Our full-time regular positions also include an annual performance-based bonus (or a sales incentive plan) and long-term incentive units (equity) provided as part of our compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
