With real products in the field, we’re scaling faster than the grid can, transforming power from a bottleneck into a competitive advantage for the companies building the future.</p></div><p>We’re looking for a <strong>Senior Compliance Engineer</strong> with deep expertise in regulatory requirements, codes, and certification processes applicable to BESS, power electronics, and electrical distribution systems e.g. panelboards, switchboards, etc.. This is a product-focused and cross-functional role responsible for ensuring that our systems meet all applicable North American and international standards, as well as ISO/RTO interconnection and market requirements. You will serve as the internal authority on compliance, working closely with product, R&D, and project engineering teams to ensure designs are certifiable, deployable, and aligned with evolving regulatory frameworks.</p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Lead compliance strategy and execution for BESS, DC cabinets, inverters, and related power, controls /IT equipments.</li>
<li>Interpret and apply standards such as UL, CSA, IEEE, IEC, and NFPA to product and project designs.</li>
<li>Act as the subject matter expert on ISO/RTO regulatory requirements (e.g., interconnection, grid codes, testing protocols).</li>
<li>Define and manage certification roadmaps for new and existing products.</li>
<li>Coordinate and support product testing and certification activities, including UL listings, field evaluations, and special inspections.</li>
<li>Develop and maintain with Technical Writer compliance documentation, including test plans, reports, and certification packages.</li>
<li>Work directly with NRTLs and certification bodies to facilitate approvals and resolve technical issues.</li>
<li>Support engineering teams by ensuring designs meet code and standard requirements from early development stages.</li>
<li>Review and validate test procedures and results, including electrical, thermal, environmental, and safety testing.</li>
<li>Support project teams during AHJ reviews, permitting, and commissioning, addressing compliance-related questions.</li>
<li>Monitor and interpret regulatory changes and emerging standards, ensuring proactive alignment of products.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Required Skills & Experience:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.</li>
<li>10+ years of experience in compliance, certification, or regulatory engineering for BESS, power electronics, or industrial electrical systems.</li>
<li>4+ years experience with working knowledge of key standards, including:
<ul>
<li>UL (e.g., UL 9540, UL 9540A, UL 1741, UL 508A)</li>
<li>CSA standards for electrical equipment</li>
<li>IEEE standards related to power systems and interconnection</li>
<li>IEC standards for international compliance</li>
<li>NFPA (e.g., NFPA 855)</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Deep understanding of test procedures and certification processes, including safety, thermal runaway, environmental, and performance testing.</li>
<li>Familiarity with ISO/RTO requirements (e.g., ERCOT, PJM, CAISO, MISO) and grid interconnection standards.</li>
<li>Experience working with NRTLs (e.g., UL, CSA, Intertek) and managing certification programs.</li>
<li>Ability to interpret and apply codes, standards, and regulatory language into practical engineering requirements.</li>
<li>Strong communication skills across engineering, regulatory authorities, and external certification bodies.</li>
<li>Project Management skills.</li>
</ul>
<p>Preferred Experience:</p>
<ul>
<li>Experience with utility-scale and/or C&I BESS deployments.</li>
<li>Direct involvement in UL 9540A fire testing, LSFT or similar safety validation programs.</li>
<li>Knowledge of utility -scale inverter compliance requirements.</li>
<li>Experience supporting permitting and AHJ engagement in the U.S.</li>
<li>Background in quality systems or regulatory audits.</li>
