This travel-focused role includes additional compensation and benefits designed to support a project-based schedule.  Automation Engineers at DMC apply their programming skills and understanding of engineering fundamentals to provide solutions that involve developing software to interface with and control hardware. We prioritize technical excellence and cultivate a collaborative environment for independent and team-based work, reflecting our commitment to professional growth and providing forward-thinking solutions to clients.   Responsibilities  <ul> <li>Programs applications in accordance with DMC programming standards and best practices to meet and exceed customer requirements </li> <li>Commissions solutions at customer sites (domestic/international travel as needed), troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems  </li> <li>Works with most industrial PLC/HMI/SCADA platforms (Siemens, Rockwell, Ignition, etc.) </li> <li>Continuously learns relevant technologies with guidance, gaining knowledge in sales, business development, and project processes </li> <li>Supports system architecture design, performs engineering tasks at all stages, and takes on both leading and supporting roles </li> <li>Mentors and technically advises new team members </li> <li>Conveys deliverables to customers through various communication methods and develops and maintains relationships </li> </ul> Note: This role is designed for engineers interested in 90% - 100% travel, with the majority of time spent onsite at customer facilities. Vacation accrual is higher than our typical engineering positions.    Requirements  Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship now or in the future.  <ul> <li>Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering (or related field) </li> <li>Minimum GPA of 3.4 </li> <li>2+ years of relevant experience  </li> <li>Proficient in programming, including text-based languages and object-oriented concepts </li> <li>Quickly learns new technologies, understands complex systems, and builds on established patterns and models </li> <li>Efficiently manages multiple projects, works directly with customers, and responds to their needs </li> <li>Experience designing projects in industrial automation systems (e.g. PLCs, Motion Control, Process Control, HMI, SCADA, Robots, Machine Vision, etc.) </li> <li>Interest in working across a variety of industries </li> <li>Experience leading and/or mentoring technical project teams (preferred)  </li> <li>Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop project proposals </li> <li>Ability and willingness to travel 90% - 100% for your first 18 months at DMC  <ul> <li>After 18 months, there will be an option to move into a standard engineering role which expects 30%-40% travel </li> </ul> </li> <li>Access to a reliable vehicle for work-related travel </li> </ul> ITAR Requirements  To conform to U.S. Government commercial space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), applicants for employment at DMC must be a U.S. citizen or national, lawfully admitted for permanent residence into the U.S. (i.e. current green card holder), or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum under 8 U.S.C. §  1157-1158.   Compensation:  Starting compensation is based on industry, relevant experience and location standards.   <ul> <li>Engineer Levels II & III (3-5 years relevant experience): $101,000 - $121,000 </li> <li>Engineering Levels III & Above (5-10 years relevant experience): $121,000 - $171,000+  </li> </ul> Additional Information:   <ul> <li><a href="https://www.dmcinfo.com/careers/#culture">Benefits/Culture/Bonuses and More!</a> </li> <li><a href="https://www.dmcinfo.com/contact/#our-offices">Office Locations</a> </li> <li><a href="https://www.dmcinfo.com/">DMC Website</a> </li> <li><a href="https://www.dmcinfo.com/blog/">Engineering Blogs</a> </li> <li><a href="https://www.dmcinfo.com/careers/open-positions/">Additional Career Opportunities</a>  </li> </ul>  #LI-Hybrid
