Who We Are: Cogent Biosciences is a publicly traded biotechnology company focused on developing novel precision therapies to treat a broad range of patients with unmet medical needs. Cogent’s lead program, bezuclastinib, is designed to selectively and potently inhibit exon 17 mutations found within the KIT receptor tyrosine kinase, including KIT D816V. KIT D816V is responsible for driving a rare and serious condition called Systemic Mastocytosis, and exon 17 mutations are also found in patients with gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), a type of cancer with strong dependence on oncogenic KIT signaling. Bezuclastinib has exhibited promising initial data across all three trials: APEX in AdvSM, SUMMIT in NonAdvSM and PEAK in GIST, including an encouraging safety profile across 600+ patients in single-agent and combination dosing.  <hr> The Role:  Cogent is seeking a dedicated Research Animal Technician to join our team for weekend and holiday shifts. In this role, you will be responsible for administering scheduled doses of medications to research animals. You will also perform routine cleaning and maintenance of animal enclosures to uphold high standards of animal care and facility hygiene. The ideal candidate is experienced in laboratory animal care, highly attentive to detail, and comfortable working independently while following established protocols. This position plays a critical role in supporting ongoing research and ensuring the health and well-being of animals in our care.   <hr> Responsibilities: <div> <ul> <li> Key Responsibilities <ul> <li>Monitor and provide daily care for research animals</li> <li>Administering oral and IP test articles to mice and rats</li> <li>Safely handle and restrain animals</li> <li>Perform cage washing, preparation, and general husbandry tasks</li> <li>Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility</li> </ul> _____________________________________________________________________________________ Schedule <ul> <li>Weekend and holiday shifts (Saturday and/or Sunday required)</li> <li>AM Shifts: Begin between 6:00-7:00 AM <ul> <li>Perform health checks on all animals</li> <li>Ensure adequate food and water supply</li> <li>Address any immediate husbandry needs (e.g., flooded cages)</li> </ul> </li> <li>PM Shifts: Begin between 5:00-6:00 PM <ul> <li>Complete scheduled dosing</li> <li>Wash and prep cages as needed</li> <li>Assist on any other assigned tasks</li> </ul> </li> <li>Training: <ul> <li>Training will take place during weekday hours prior to starting independent shifts</li> </ul> </li> <li>Additional Hours: <ul> <li>Optional weekday hours may be available on an as-needed basis and will be paid at the standard hourly rate.</li> </ul> </li> </ul> </li> </ul> <hr> Qualifications: <ul> <li> Minimum 1 year of laboratory animal care experience preferred   </li> <li> Proficiency in dosing mice and rats (oral gavage and IP)   </li> <li> Veterinary technicians will also be considered   </li> <li> Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols   </li> <li> Ability to work independently and maintain consistency in care </li> </ul> <hr> Salary Range: $30-35/hr USD  <div>Exact compensation will vary based on skills and experience.</div> <div><hr></div> <div> <div>Our Locations</div> <div> Waltham, MA: Our headquarters is located in the Greater Boston life sciences community, with an open, collaborative office environment designed to support teamwork and connection.
