Our Flutter-based platform runs on iOS and Android, and the bar for quality is high — traders make real financial decisions on it. As a Sr. Software Engineer in Test on the Mobile team, you will own automation and quality for our mobile applications, working as a peer to Flutter engineers and product managers. You will shape how our apps are built to be testable, not just verify what ships. In this role you will: <ul> <li>Architect, build, and maintain a scalable end-to-end mobile automation framework for our Flutter-based iOS and Android applications</li> <li>Lead automation efforts across both platforms, with a focus on long-term framework stability and coverage</li> <li>Implement and enhance mobile automation using Appium, WebdriverIO, or similar automation frameworks</li> <li>Design and enforce a Screen/Page Object Model architecture and project structure that scales with the mobile team</li> <li>Write maintainable automation code in TypeScript/JavaScript, establishing standards others build on</li> <li>Partner with Flutter engineers on application architecture to identify testability gaps and make automation-friendly design decisions early — before they become late-stage problems</li> <li>Own CI/CD integration for mobile test pipelines: tagging strategies (e.g., smoke, regression), automated reporting, and pipeline reliability</li> <li>Identify, analyze, and eliminate test flakiness — treating automation reliability as a product quality concern</li> <li>Apply AI-assisted development tools — code generation, test generation, failure analysis — to improve coverage and productivity</li> <li>Drive improvement in mobile testing tooling and documentation</li> <li>Contribute to junior QA team members' growth through code reviews, pairing, and direct feedback</li> <li>Uphold NinjaTrader SDLC and information security standards</li> </ul> What you'll need: <ul> <li>7+ years of experience in QA engineering and test automation, with significant mobile automation experience</li> <li>Proven experience building and scaling mobile E2E automation frameworks for iOS and Android</li> <li>Strong hands-on experience with Appium, WebdriverIO, or comparable mobile automation tools</li> <li>Demonstrated experience working with mobile engineers on testability-by-design</li> <li>Deep understanding of Screen/Page Object Model or equivalent patterns for mobile test architecture</li> <li>Strong proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript</li> <li>Experience with CI/CD tooling for mobile delivery, including GitHub Actions</li> <li>Experience designing test strategies that integrate into automated pipelines at scale</li> <li>Proven proficiency with AI-assisted engineering tools applied responsibly in a mobile QA context</li> <li>Track record of improving automation stability and reducing flakiness</li> <li>Strong communication and collaboration skills — comfortable as a peer to Flutter engineers and product managers</li> </ul> Bonus points for: <ul> <li>Hands-on experience with Flutter-native testing tools (flutter_test, integration_test package)</li> <li>Familiarity with iOS and Android internals, simulators, and emulators</li> <li>Experience with cloud device labs (e.g., Sauce Labs, BrowserStack, or similar)</li> <li>API automation testing experience</li> <li>Accessibility testing awareness (WCAG or mobile platform standards)</li> <li>Financial trading systems or fintech experience</li> </ul> Compensation: The salary range for this role will be $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 USD. In addition, this position will also receive an annual target bonus of 10%. Bonus pay at NinjaTrader is based on individual performance (50%) as well as company/team performance (50%). Salary and bonus earnings are only two components of the total compensation package offered by NinjaTrader. NinjaTrader offers a 401K plan through ADP under which the company will match up to 3.5% of employee contributions. Annual paid time off allowance accrues at a rate of 18 days per year (some positions may qualify for more) plus seven paid holidays. Location: This role is based in Chicago, IL. We are not open to remote candidates for this role.  Hybrid: For Chicago-based employees, we follow a hybrid work schedule: In-office Tuesday through Thursday, with remote work on Mondays and Fridays.
