We are seeking a <strong>Senior Field Service Technician</strong> to serve as a technical owner in the field—leading complex installations, startups, and commissioning activities while acting as a trusted technical partner to customers.</p> <p>This highly visible, hands-on role goes beyond break/fix service. The Senior FST independently executes complex field work, mentors junior technicians, and serves as on-site technical authority during installations, commissioning, outages, and critical events. The successful candidate arrives fully credentialed and ready on day one; LiquidStack provides product-specific orientation but no foundational trade, certification, or technical-skills training outside of required safety programs.</p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></span></p> <p><strong>Field Execution &amp; Technical Ownership</strong></p> <ul> <li>Lead on-site installation, startup, commissioning, validation, preventive maintenance, and corrective service of LiquidStack liquid cooling systems; serve as the primary technical escalation point in the field prior to Engineering involvement</li> <li>Support emergency response, outages, and time-sensitive customer events when required</li> <li>Perform advanced troubleshooting across mechanical, hydronic, electrical, controls, and thermal subsystems; isolate root cause across hardware, software, power, fluid quality, or environmental factors</li> <li>Operate diagnostic instrumentation (multimeters, megohmmeters, manometers, IR cameras, refrigerant recovery, flow meters, pressure transducers); lead pressure testing, flow balancing, fluid fills, leak checks, and acceptance testing during commissioning</li> <li>Read and work from electrical schematics, P&amp;IDs, mechanical drawings, and sequence-of-operations documents; redline drawings when as-built conditions differ from design</li> <li>Coordinate work within mission-critical 24x7 data center environments including UPS, PDU, generators, ATS, BMS/DCIM, CRAC/CRAH, fire suppression, and chilled-water plant; adhere to badge access, escort, change-control, and chain-of-custody policies at every customer site</li> </ul> <p><strong>Customer &amp; Site Leadership</strong></p> <ul> <li>Act as LiquidStack’s senior technical representative at customer sites; communicate clearly and calmly with customer IT, facilities, engineering, and management stakeholders at the appropriate level of detail, especially during critical infrastructure events</li> <li>Support customer acceptance testing and formal system handover</li> <li>Deliver basic operational training and system overviews to customer technical teams; field technical questions and represent product capability accurately</li> </ul> <p><strong>Documentation, Quality &amp; Continuous Improvement</strong></p> <ul> <li>Complete detailed service reports, commissioning documentation, and root-cause analyses</li> <li>Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Supply Chain to resolve recurring field issues; contribute to service procedures, checklist, and training materials</li> <li>Use service ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Salesforce Field Service, or equivalent) to track work, log time against tasks, document resolutions, and ensure timely closure; maintain SLA compliance and clean shift handoffs to ensure continuity of operations</li> </ul> <p><strong>Mentorship &amp; Scaling Support</strong></p> <ul> <li>Train junior FST's and customer -side data center technicians on LiquidStack equipment, troubleshooting, and best practices; lead pre-job briefing, JSAs, and post-job debriefs; serve as on-site escalation point during complex troubleshooting; communicate status,&nbsp; blockers, and lessons learned across the service team&nbsp;<strong>&nbsp;</strong></li> </ul> <p><strong>SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES</strong></p> <ul> <li>5+ years of field service experience supporting HVAC, HVAC R, chillers, industrial cooling, power, or mission critical infrastructure</li> <li>Proven experience leading equipment startups, commissioning, and troubleshooting in customer environment</li> <li>&nbsp;High school diploma or GED require</li> <li>Valid driver’s license and passport</li> <li>Willingness to travel approximately 50% (primarily domestic with occasional international travel)</li> <li>EPA 608 Universal Certification (Types I, II, and III) required at offer to legally service the full pressure range, including low-pressure chillers, without supervision</li> <li>OSHA 10 (General Industry) required; OSHA 30 and NFPA 70E (arc flash) strongly preferred and may be required by customer sites before performing energized electrical work</li> <li>Lockout/tagout (LOTO) competency required for safe servicing of energized mechanical and electrical systems in live data centers</li> <li>Ability to read and work from electrical schematics, P&amp;IDs, mechanical drawings, and sequence-of-operations documents without supervision</li> <li>Working knowledge of hydronic loops, pumps, heat exchangers, CDUs (coolant distribution units), manifolds, and pressure/flow control</li> <li>Familiarity with data center infrastructure: UPS, PDU, generators, ATS, BMS/DCIM, CRAC/CRAH, fire suppression, and raised floor or slab environments</li> <li>Strong verbal and written communication; able to brief customers, peer technicians, engineers, and managers at the appropriate technical depth, remain calm during critical events, conduct customer handovers, and deliver operational training</li> <li>Willingness to participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and respond to critical infrastructure emergencies<strong><br></strong></li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience supporting data centers, hyperscale facilities, or other high‑availability environments</li> <li>Hands-on experience with high-density liquid cooling (direct-to-chip, immersion, rear-door heat exchangers, manifold-based distribution)</li> <li>Prior experience with hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data center operators (e.g., Equinix, Digital Realty, Flexential, CoreSite, Compass, QTS); NOC/SOC/IOC or DCT II/III experience a plus</li> </ul> <p><strong>Work Environment &amp; Physical Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li style="line-height: 1.1;">Work performed at customer data centers, mechanical rooms,&nbsp; and industrial environments; extended hours, nights, or weekends during commissioning or critical events</li> <li style="line-height: 1.1;">Ability to push or carry up to 75lbs. with assistance; routine bending, squatting, kneeling, and overhead reaching ;
