As Director of Strategic Finance, you will be the analytical engine behind our most important strategic bets. You’ll lead the cross-functional projects that shape pricing strategy, market entry, and capital allocation, and partner directly with the CFO and executive team on board-level reporting. This is a high-visibility role for a builder who wants to translate complex business questions into rigorous frameworks that help leadership make better bets — and to do it inside a hardware company where the economics actually matter. <h2>What You’ll Do:</h2> <ul> <li>Own the development and maintenance of Formlabs’ long-range financial plan, integrating assumptions across product lines, geographies, and channels into a unified corporate model.</li> <li>Build and deliver board materials and executive-level financial packages, including strategic narratives, scenario analyses, and KPI dashboards that frame Formlabs’ performance and trajectory for the Board and senior leadership.</li> <li>Lead cross-functional strategic projects end-to-end — pricing strategy for new product launches, GTM investment cases for new verticals (dental, industrial, education), and geographic expansion analyses.</li> <li>Develop financial frameworks and decision tools that enable leadership to evaluate trade-offs: build vs buy, channel mix optimization, and R&D portfolio prioritization.</li> <li>Partner with the Head of Finance and CFO to shape the annual operating plan, ensuring top-down strategic targets are grounded in bottom-up operational reality.</li> <li>Serve as a strategic thought partner to business unit leaders across Sales, Marketing, Product, and Operations, bringing financial rigor to their planning processes.</li> <li>Monitor competitive dynamics, market sizing, and industry trends across 3D printing and digital fabrication; distill insights into actionable strategic recommendations.</li> <li>Drive process improvements in how Formlabs communicates financial performance and strategy to internal and external stakeholders.</li> </ul> <h2>About You:</h2> <ul> <li>8-12 years of progressive experience in strategic finance, corporate strategy, investment banking, or management consulting, with at least 3-4 years in an in-house strategic finance or corporate strategy role at a scaling company.</li> <li>Demonstrated track record of building board-level materials and presenting to or supporting C-suite and board audiences.</li> <li>Experience leading cross-functional strategic projects from scoping through recommendation — ideally including pricing strategy, market entry analysis, or GTM investment cases.</li> <li>Strong financial modeling skills with the ability to build flexible, scenario-driven models from scratch; comfortable with large data sets and proficient in Excel/Sheets, SQL, and BI tools (Looker, Tableau).</li> <li>Exceptional strategic thinker who can zoom out to see the big picture and zoom in to pressure-test the details in the same conversation.</li> <li>Outstanding communicator who can distill complex analyses into crisp, compelling narratives for board and executive audiences.</li> <li>High agency and ownership mentality — thrives on ambiguous problems and drives them to resolution without heavy direction.</li> <li>Deeply analytical but commercially minded — understands that the goal is better decisions, not just better models.</li> </ul> <h2>Bonus Skills:</h2> <ul> <li>Prior experience at a hardware or “hard tech” company, with a strong understanding of physical product economics (BOM, COGS, manufacturing scale curves, channel margins).</li> <li>Investment banking (TMT, industrials) or top-tier strategy consulting background, with a successful transition into an operating role.</li> <li>Experience supporting or leading capital allocation decisions at a scaling, product-led company.</li> <li>Genuine curiosity about 3D printing, advanced manufacturing, and how new technology creates customer value.</li> </ul> <h2>Our Benefits & Perks:</h2> <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">  Robust equity program to build future wealth through RSUs</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">  Comprehensive healthcare coverage (Medical, Dental, Vision)</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">  401K matching and access to financial advisors</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">  Generous paid Parental Leave (up to 16 weeks)</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">  Tenure-based paid Sabbatical Leave (up to 6 weeks)</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">  Flexible Out of Office Plan – Take time when you need it</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">  Ample on-site parking & pre-tax commuter benefits</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">  Healthy on-site lunches, snacks, beverages, & treats</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">  Regularly sponsored professional development opportunities</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">  Many opt-in culture events across our diverse community</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">  And of course… unlimited 3D prints</li> </ul> We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. You’ll have the opportunity to share financially in the value we create together, with a shared incentive to build a business that succeeds over the long term. Equity will be a significant portion of your total compensation, and will increase over time in proportion to your impact. The base pay will be determined by your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and expected impact on the organization.</div><div class="title">The annual base pay range for this role is:</div><div class="pay-range">$105,000—$200,000 USD</div></div></div>
