Skyline Academy is a day treatment/facility school program serving students ages 6 to 14-years old in grades 1st through 8th.The approach of the team is characterized by being strengths-based, family-centered, & culturally proficient and community responsive. Offers will not exceed this range, the majority of candidates are placed near the midpoint based on experience and qualifications.  Job Duties & Functions:  <ul> <li>Develop lesson plans and provide one-on-one and/or small group instruction in core content areas based upon the child’s IEP and curriculum requirements set by the Office of Facility Schools.</li> <li>Collaborate with the Special Education Manager to evaluate and update students’ IEPs, BIPs, and Re-evaluations, as well as actively participate in all IEP meetings.</li> <li>Administer academic and state assessments as required.</li> <li>Assist the Special Education Manager and Clinicians to coordinate discharges and transfers with partnering school districts.</li> <li>Maintain accurate student records, including IEP goals, attendance, report cards, progress reports, and incident reports.</li> <li>In partnership with the milieu therapy staff, actively supervise and interact with students in the classroom and milieu according to the structured daily schedule.</li> <li>Communicate with parents/guardians/caregivers regularly to ensure engagement and collaboration around students’ academic needs.</li> <li>Collaborate with clinicians, milieu therapy staff, and Unit Manager to support behavior modification interventions and support students’ social, emotional and daily living skills in alignment with the clinical treatment plan.</li> <li>Prove crisis intervention, employ approved crisis prevention and intervention methodologies, and implement effective de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.</li> <li>Perform other duties as assigned</li> </ul> Requirements & Qualifications:    <ul> <li>Bachelors or Master’s degree in related field.</li> <li>Minimum one year of experience as Special Education Teacher in an Affective Needs, Center-Based, or equivalent classroom/school.</li> <li>Experience working within a facility school program or equivalent strongly preferred. </li> <li>Colorado Initial or Professional Teacher License with Special Education Generalist (5-21) endorsement.</li> <li>Must be able to pass a Physical and TB test</li> <li>Must be able to obtain QMAP, CPR and First Aid Certifications within the first 60 days of employment.</li> <li>Must be able to complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training within 6 months of employment</li> </ul>   SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: <ul> <li>Ability to work with severely mentally ill children.</li> <li>Ability to work with culturally diverse population.</li> <li>Ability to work with multidisciplinary team.</li> <li>Effective verbal and written communication skills.</li> <li>Good organizational and administrative skills</li> </ul>   <hr> Work Location: 3401 Eudora St. Denver, CO 80207 Shift/Hours: This is a Monday-Friday opportunity from 8am to 4:30pm Permanent year-round position. Teachers are actively working August – May only but have the opportunity to work additional hours in June and July (pending Skyline’s needs).   Typical Physical Demans: <ul> <li>Walking (daily)</li> <li>Standing</li> <li>Playing with children in the gym or outdoors during recess/P.E.
