The school is a true community success story that has transformed the lives of thousands of students and their families, while breathing life back into a city that was once one of Philadelphia’s most vibrant manufacturing suburbs.&nbsp;</p></div><p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Job Summary:<br><br></strong></p> <p>The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) is assigned specifically to a student or group of students who regularly need one-on-one assistance to maintain appropriate and equitable participation in the school setting.&nbsp; The PCA directly supports the students at the direction of the teacher and is under the general supervision the Special Education and Pupil Services Department.<br><br></p> <p><strong>Essential Functions:<br></strong></p> <ul> <li>Helps prepare, collect and set-up materials for student participation, following teacher direction</li> <li>Provides instructional, behavioral, or physical assistance to students individually or in small groups at the direction of the teacher to reinforce and follow up instruction</li> <li>Assists with such large group activities as drill work, reading aloud, and storytelling</li> <li>Maintains daily activity logs for your assigned student (s)</li> <li>Alerts regular teacher to any problem or special information about the individual student(s)</li> <li>Serves as the chief source of information for the assigned students to help any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher</li> <li>Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of teachers</li> <li>Operates and or assists in the use of student mobility devices such as, but not limited to, walker, wheelchair, braces, canes, etc.</li> <li>Assists students in self-care as assigned by teacher</li> <li>Performs other related duties as assigned</li> </ul> <p><strong>Minimum Requirements:</strong></p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma in addition to any pre-requisite requirements as defined by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania</li> <li>Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short (simple) correspondence, memos, and routine reports</li> <li>Pennsylvania Criminal Record Check Clearance</li> <li>Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance</li> <li>FBI Criminal Background Clearance</li> </ul> <p><strong>Demonstrated Knowledge of:<br></strong></p> <ul> <li>Effective communication with students and staff</li> <li>Various problem solving methods</li> </ul> <p><strong>Demonstrated Ability to:<br></strong></p> <ul> <li>Follow directions</li> <li>Work closely with support and compassion with students with disabilities</li> </ul> <p><br><strong>Note:</strong>&nbsp; CCCS has the exclusive right to alter this job description at any time.&nbsp; This job description is not an employment agreement or contract.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
